President Donald Trump has declared he is increasing duties on goods shipped from Canada after the province of the Ontario government broadcast an anti-import tax ad using late President Ronald Reagan.

In a Truth Social message on Saturday, the President described the advertisement a "fraud" and condemned Canadian authorities for not removing it before the World Series.

"Due to their major falsification of the truth, and hostile act, I am hiking the Tariff on Canada by ten percent on top of what they are being charged now," he stated.

After Trump on last Thursday pulled out of trade talks with Canadian officials, the Doug Ford announced he would remove the advert.

The Province Response

Ontario Leader the Premier announced on last Friday that he would pause his territory's anti-tariff commercial series in the US, advising reporters that he chose after talks with Prime Minister Mark Carney "in order that trade talks can restart".

He added it would continue to air during the weekend, including games for the World Series, which includes the Toronto team facing the LA team.

Commercial Situation

The Canadian nation is the sole Group of Seven country that has not secured a arrangement with the America since the President began attempting to charge significant duties on products from primary trade partners.

The United States has already applied a 35% levy on all Canadian products - though the majority are exempt under an existing free trade agreement. It has furthermore imposed industry-specific taxes on Canadian products, featuring a 50% duty on metals and 25% on vehicles.

In his post, posted while he was traveling to Southeast Asia, the President indicated he was adding 10 percent to the existing tariffs.

75% of Canadian exported goods are sold to the US, and the province is the location of the largest share of the nation's car production.

Reagan Ad Information

The advert, which was sponsored by the Ontario authorities, quotes ex-President Ronald Reagan, a GOP member and icon of American conservatism, remarking import taxes "hurt every American".

The video takes excerpts from a 1987 national radio address that focused on foreign trade.

The Foundation, which is responsible for protecting the late president's legacy, had criticized the advert for using "carefully chosen" audio and video and stated it falsified Reagan's remarks. It further noted the provincial government had not sought authorization to use it.

Continuing Tensions

In his update on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump stated that the advertisement should have been pulled down before.

"Ontario's Ad was to be removed IMMEDIATELY, but they allowed it to air last night during the World Series, knowing that it was a LIE," Trump stated, while traveling to Malaysia.

the Premier had before promised to broadcast the Ronald Reagan advert in each GOP-controlled area in the United States.

The two Donald Trump and Carney will be going to the ASEAN in the Malaysian nation, but the President advised journalists accompanying him aboard the presidential plane that he does not have any "desire" of speaking with his Canadian PM during the trip.

In his update, the President also accused Canada of seeking to manipulate an upcoming American high court case which could halt his whole tariff regime.

The legal matter, to be heard by the Supreme Court soon, will decide whether the duties are lawful.

On Thursday, Trump also lashed out, stating that the commercial was designed to "tamper" with "a crucial lawsuit"

Baseball Championship Association

The Reagan commercial is not the only way that the province – base of the Blue Jays – is using the World Series as a opportunity to criticise Donald Trump's tariffs.

In a clip shared on last Friday, Ford and Gavin Newsom Newsom jokingly agreed on stakes about which club would win the finals.

Both men consistently bantered about duties in the video, with Ford vowing to provide Newsom a container of maple syrup if the LA Dodgers succeed.

"The tariff might charge me a few extra bucks at the frontier currently, but it'll be worth it," he stated.

In response, the Governor asked Doug Ford to continue enabling American-produced alcohol to be available in province beverage outlets, and promised to deliver "California's premium vino" if the Blue Jays win.

They finished their dialogue together declaring: "To a great World Series, and a duty-free relationship between the province and CA."
