Jet Transporting Pete Hegseth Forced to Land in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield
A plane carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an unplanned landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official statement which stated that Hegseth was safe.
"The plane touched down in accordance with standard procedures and all passengers, among them Secretary Hegseth, is safe," a press officer said in a online announcement.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the Belgian capital at the time.
This incident does not mark the initial instance that a US military aircraft transporting a high-ranking official has suffered mechanical issues.
In a previous incident this year, a United States Air Force aircraft ferrying Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the German city of Munich was required to head back to Washington after suffering a mechanical problem.
